At Newton Tony Primary school, we value every child and enjoy celebrating every step of progress made. Our children with identified Special Educational Needs or a disability are closely monitored and supported. Due to our small class sizes, we can provide every child with quality tailored provision. We believe that children should ‘keep up’ rather than have to ‘catch up’. Miss Priestley (Head Teacher) is our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Lead. She works with our teaching staff and Teaching Assistants to help identify children who may have a additional needs and ensure that we support them throughout the school. Please email head@newtontony.wilts.sch.uk to contact Miss Priestley or phone 01980 629232. If you would like more information on our SEND Offer please follow this link Newton Tony SEND report 2024

Emotional Learning Support
We have highly trained teaching and support staff who work as a team to support the needs of all children. Mrs Sweeney is our qualified Emotional Support Assistant (ELSA), and children/families have the opportunity to access emotional support and counselling four afternoons a week.
Mindfulness Art Support
Our ELSA also supports children’s emotional needs through identifying and discussing emotions linked to art work. Children have the opportunity to express their own feelings through creating their own art work.
Speech and language Therapy
We work closely with trained Speech therapists who train and support our own staff. Children have access to four afternoons of speech and language therapy with Mrs Sweeney, our speech and language teaching assistant. All targets are set and reviewed with the support of qualified speech therapists.
