Newton Tony is a healthy school and we are proud to have achieved our Healthy School Gold Award. Healthy Eating was an important element in us also gaining the School Eco Green Flag Silver Award. As part of the Personal, Social, Health Education, (PSHE) and Design and Technology curriculum, you will learn about what makes a healthy balanced diet and how important it is that you eat food from each of the categories. Our school lunches are provided by Hampshire County Council, children have a choice of two different hot lunches (one vegetarian option), hot jacket potato with a filling or a packed lunch box (in the Summer). You can also choose to bring a packed lunch box from home. We encourage you all to bring a healthy lunch box to school. This could include:
- a sandwich or wrap with a savoury filling
- a cereal bar or the equivalent
- fruit juice or water.
You should also bring a water bottle to school in order for you to drink when needed. Fruit is provided on a daily basis if you are in YR, 1 and 2.
Good teeth help your child feel confident. But tooth decay can cause pain and worry, even in small children. When it comes to children’s teeth, regular brushing and visits to the dentist are important.
What, when and how your child eats and drinks is also important. Help teach your child how to look after their teeth. Follow the link to watch a video and get more information. https://milk.co.uk/tiny-teeth-booklet/
