School Governors

As the new school year begins, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to everybody from the school’s Governing body.  Over the summer holidays our new decked outside dining facilities have begun construction.  We also had all our perimeter fencing replaced. Our sub contractors pulled out all the stops to deliver these fantastic facilities. Please join the school in expressing thanks to them.  Also, I would like to thank the parents and children for their patience during the construction, especially when using the carpark. We are all excited that the children will be able to continue their learning within the school’s carefully thought out new environment.

The Governing body is a mixture of school staff, members of the church & community, and parents.  The Governing body is responsible for setting the school’s strategies, and ensuring the school is delivering the very best education to our pupils.  This includes ensuring the curriculum is delivered well, and that high standards are achieved.  We also ensure well qualified and capable staff has all the facilities they need to teach.

We are accountable to you, the parents.   We occasionally have parent Governor Vacancies, and when they arise parents have the opportunity to put themselves forward be part of the strategic team that shapes the direction of the school.  The governors can be reached via the school, or directly by email admin@newtontony.wilts.sch.uk

We also have a very active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) called FONTS, which stands for ‘Friends of Newton Tony School’.   FONTS run many events which are great fun for all involved, such as Duck Races and Fireworks night.   Parents and the school and the children discuss and agree how the proceeds are to be spent.  Most often funds are channelled into ‘value add’ items for the school that directly improve the pupil’s school experience.

I would encourage each and every parent to join FONTS.  You will make lots of new friends for life, discover skills you never knew you have inside you, and feel great about making a difference to your child’s school life.
